Raphael Jakob joins ECM!
ECM welcomes Raphael Jakob and wishes him a smooth start. As a scientific assistant he will work on the development of a discrete network model for human endothelial cells.
We congratulate Bettina Müller on her ETH Pioneer Fellowship
The clinical gold standard for skin disease diagnostics is still relying on visual assessment followed by skin biopsies. Our novel ultra-light suction device, the Nimble, has the potential to improve skin diagnostics with objective quantification of skin biomechanical properties. The device operates non-invasive, is pain-free and easy to use. The support of the Pioneer Fellowship will enable the translation of a well defined research project into a commercial application.
Patrik Markovic joins ECM!
ECM welcomes Patrik Markovic who joined Prof. Mazza’s group as a PhD student. Patrik will focus on the numerical and experimental examination of distortion and residual stress development during metal additive manufacturing.
New paper published in Biomaterials
We are happy to announce another paper published in Biomaterials! In the work A free-form patterning method enabling endothelialization under dynamic flow, Xi and his colleagues created a patterning method for general elastomer, to assist maintaining the endothelial monolayer under dynamic flow conditions. New article "Mechanical stimulation induces rapid fibroblast proliferation and accelerates the early maturation of human skin substitutes" published
We are happy to announce a new paper published in Biomaterials! In collaboration with the Tissue Biology Research Unit at the University Children’s Hospital, we show that cyclic mechanical loading of human skin substitutes strongly induces dermal fibroblast proliferation and accelerates the early development of the epidermis.
